THE URVILLAS STORY
This is a project that first took shape almost two decades ago.
Initially, the first and second bungalows were planned as a joined proposition — one home for the privacy of the immediate family, the other for friends and socializing. However, on completion, it was decided that the bungalows needed more space for entertainment and unobstructed views of the ocean. In keeping with this plan, an additional ground plus three building was planned, to make up for views stolen by foliage in front of the villas.
The result is a majestic complex providing a panoramic view of the enclosed area and beyond. The building boasts a reception area and den on the ground floor, a private theatre on the first floor and fitness centre on the next level. Next is the bar or entertainment area, enclosed with glass and wooden French windows. The roof has been specially designed to keep the place cool through the year.
The building comes with a large pool, located between the entertainment building and Villa One. Villa Two has its own pool. Buildings 3 and 4 stand alone and have everything within for a complete home, along with their own indoor pools. Villa Four has a lift as it is a ground plus three structure.
I am often asked how the idea of Urvillas first came about. It was, admittedly, a big decision for me to move permanently from my home on Altamount Road. I am happy to say it has turned out to be something I have never regretted or looked back on. Having finished with all the striving to ‘make it’ in the big city, the change in pace was a blessing. My home in waiting turned out to be more than I imagined, and I now live a mere 3 minutes from this project that is so close to my heart.
It is so perfect here that one needn’t step out of the compound. Alibaug is safe and peaceful; the people, lovely. And, of course, if I miss the hustle and bustle of the city, it is a short boat ride away.
I have never missed it.
